Emily's Purple Addition

I forgot to mention that lovely
addition to Emily's leg. A couple
of weeks before Christmas,
Emily was at recess and was
being chased by one of the
boys from her class from last
year. In her efforts to get away
from him, she fell and twisted
her ankle. After a brief sojorn
to the school nurse's office, she
resumed her school day schedule.
I was never called which is very
unlike the Nurse Vicky.
She'll call about anything.
At the end of the day,
out came a gimpy Emily. On the
way to Mom's house, she asked if
she could take her shoe off. I said
"no", because if it was swollen,
I was afraid we wouldn't get it back
on. Once there, I took a look at
it and her ankle was huge. A call
to the doctor's office had us making
a trip to the ER. Thankfully no
major injury and no damage to the
growth plate. They sent her home
in a walking boot and said to follow
up with an Orthopedist.
The Orthopedist said she had a
small fracture of her ankle bone.
It wasn't that bad an injury,
but his fear was what might
happen if a secondary injury should
occur. He mentioned surgery,
possible pins and I immediately
was on board for a cast.
Emily has been purple cast free for
2 weeks and has been sporting an
air cast since then. Today is her last
day in the air cast. YEAH.
I was not sorry to see the cast go.
I was especially not sorry to not
smell the cast anymore. P U!

Christmas Day

Can you see the look of
excitement on Michael's
face? They were both
very ready to come out
and see if Santa had come.

Michael showing off
his new footie pjs.

They glow in the dark...
cool!

Mom....a sweater????
Emily thought Santa did
good with the doll. It was
something she had really
wanted and asked for.

Banner is pooped out from
all the activity.

Ready to cook....a
great gift from Gammy.

Christmas Eve with the Joyners

Here are some pictures of our
Christmas Eve with the Joyner
side of the family. The tree
in the background is my Disney
tree in my den. Only red and gold
glitter bows and ornaments and
lots and lots of Disney ornaments. Matt, Fred, Mema and Kathy
Sherri and Mema
Great family photo with Mema.
I absolutely love this picture
of Michael and Emily with Mema.

Family Visit To Bethleham

The church we go to has an
annual Christmas trip to
Bethleham for the kids in the
church and their families. The
entire basement of the church is
transformed into different
shops, vendors etc. We have a
begger on hand as well as
Roman Soldiers. The children
are each given a bag of coins
in which to pay their taxes as
well as buy different items
and to buy the ability to make
different items. Lots of fun and
educational to boot!

Here are Frankie, Michael and
Emily with our Joseph, Mary and the
baby Jesus. Within a few feet of
this are two sheep, a donkey and a
couple of chickens. Pretty realistic
barn for inside a church.

Michael and Emily got to
make a great placemat that
they embrodiered a gold
star on. They were on our
table until after New Years.

This is Frankie's mom, Gina,
helping Michael with his
placemat.

I don't think the kids
appreciated store bought,
pre-ground flour until after
this room. They had a lot
of fun grinding various grains,
it is just a good thing we didn't
have to grind enough to actually
make our dinner.

Emily got to make her own
doll. She was in heaven. Michael
got to make a slingshot. He hasn't
seen it since we got home. I didn't
think it would be good to
actually give him a weapon to
use on his sister.

Michael and Frankie are
dipping candles in colored
wax. Lots of fun and
creativity in their choices
of colors.

Uncle John joined us for the
morning. The kids loved
having him around for the
day. I'm not so sure about
him as an angel, though.

Gina and Frankie were our
guests and we all had a good
time in Bethleham.
