Swimming in Florida

Over spring break we
got some photos of Emily
and Michael taking a dip
in the pool. They had a
blast and made lots of
progress! Getting some help from
the noodle in the pool.

Being stylish in his shades!
This is definitely new
for Michael. He has gotten
alot more confidence in
going under water. If he'd
only keep his mouth closed
he'd have more fun!

A split second late on
Emily's jump in!

Andersonville Prison

Over Spring Break we made a
short detour to Andersonville,
GA. This was the site of a very
deady Confederate prison during
the Civil War. It boggles the mind
to know they kept over 20000
prisoners on 7 acres.

One of the many statues
found in the cemetary.

Kenneth's Great-Great Grandfather
died while imprisoned at Andersonville.
This is his headstone. Unfortunately the
records kept weren't entirely accurate and
thus the misspelling of his last name.

This is a recreation of where the
original stockade walls were.

The prison grounds look very
nice and well kept. Nothing like
what the reality was for the prisoners.

Interview Me!

My cousin Megan from
has sent me 5 questions that I will
post here with my answers. You, in turn,
can ask me to interview you and then you
post them to your blog. If you don't have
a blog, I will be happy to post them here on mine!
The Rules
1. Leave me a comment saying,
"Interview me."
2. I will respond by emailing you
five questions of my choice.
3. Then, you should update your
blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You have to include this explanation
and an offer to interview someone
else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be
interviewed, you get to ask them five questions.
So here are the questions Megan sent me:
1. How many Mustangs will you let
Kenneth have before you put your foot down?
Are we talking actual driveable automobiles?
We currently have 5. Kenneth has three
and they are the 1965, 1983 and 2005.
The other two belong to Emily and Michael.
You've seen pictures of them on this blog
if you've kept up with my postings since
Christmas. Kenneth won't be seriously
interested in another one until he gets
the 1965 all fixed up. It is currently taking
up half of the barn's aisle being as parts
are being fixed, replaced etc. I think that
there will never be more than 4 allowed
at any one time. I guess that means we
may be in for yet another one in the future.
Yikes!
2. If you had a day without the kids and
could do whatever you want, what would you do?
Oh the possibilities are endless.....Can
I get on a jet and go to Paris for the day?
Guess I should stick with what is actually
possible. Hmm.....I think I would
scrapbook. I've haven't done it in so
long that I'm in major withdrawal.
3. What sporting event in the whole
world would you most like to go to
(and sit in box seats, of course!)?
Kentucky Derby. No Question. To bad I'm
going to miss it tomorrow. Emily has a dance
competition and we'll not be able to watch it.
4. How many orange things are
in your wardrobe?
Clothes...4 or so shirts, 1 sweater,
2 purses, 7 pairs of earrings,
2 or 3 hats and 2 ponchos. There
probably is more than that, but I
can't remember anything else.
5. If you could learn one new skill,
what would it be? Why?
Wow....Hmm...I'd love to ballroom
dance. I am absolutely fascinated
with Dancing With The Stars. I
think it is just so beautiful and
elegant. There was a time when
Kenneth actually said he'd do it
once. To bad it is a bit pricey or
I'd take him up on it!

Emily's First Pony Club Event

Emily joined Pony Club this year.
Last Saturday we went to her first
upranking. She had to ride and
answer questions in order to pass
to her D1. I'm happy to say that she
did better riding than I expected and
she was spectacular with her
knowledge part of the test. Emily and Rain riding for the
first time somewhere other
than at home in the small ring.

If Emily had her hands a little
closer together, this would
be a great shot!

position" while go over the poles.

It was a great afternoon and I
was very proud of Emily!

Spring Break Pictures

I know I am late in posting
these pictures, but better
late than never!

Wish I could sleep that good!

Emily doesn't like the life
vest, but it's either that
or no trip on the boat!

Grandaddy took us out on
the boat. No telling what
was said, but it definitely
tickled me.

Looks real, doesn't it?

Hodgepodge of Pictures

These are a mixed bag
of pictures from the past month.

Michael got to shave with Daddy!

While in Florida over spring
break we went to the zoo in
Naples. The kids thought it
was great to be Tarzan and
Jane for a few moments!

We went to the Sounds Game
a week ago and had fun pretending
to be the different players!

We're Back To Posting

These pictures were taken
a few weeks ago. I am so
behind and it isn't due to lack
of pictures.
All that fluffy stuff on the
ground is the hair we brushed
out of Rain. It looked like it
had snowed!
It is very difficult to take
a picture of someone when
they are only 7 feet from
your on a lungeline.

Emily's ready to ride!

Lookin Good!

Baseball Time!

Here are a couple of pictures
from Michael's game last
Thursday. He looks
ready to play!!!

He got the game ball for
getting three players out
at Third Base. Here he is
on third waiting to run home.

Congrats to my cousin Jill.....

Last week I drove over to
Crossville, TN for my cousins
induction into the Krystal
Lover's Hall Of Fame!!!
Here are some pictures
from the event.
It's hard to read the side
of the Krystal Box so I'll
write it out for you.
Jill said....
"My Holiday Tradition"
1. arrange warm Krystals
to form a tree
2. decorate with mints and
ornaments
3. sing "Oh Krystal tree,
oh Krystal tree, how lovely
are thy burgers"

Photos of Emily....

Emily was given an award at
school on the last day before
spring break. Her classmates
voted for the classmate who
best represented the character
trait of Citizenship. I'm not sure
why they chose here, but they did.
Here she is with her award! They had pajama day and got
to watch a movie. I sure don't
remember ever getting to do
such things when I was in school!

The entire 2nd grade got to
practice rollerskating in p.e.
for a whole week. I think
Emily liked it best when it
was just girls skate. The
boys were a lot more
aggressive skating. Here
she is with her horse camp
buddy...Rachael.

Emily's Spring School Picture

Emily's school does pictures
in the winter which are
decidedly not school picturish.
Is that a word?

These are the only two
that I liked. I didn't think
they turned out nearly as
cute as I think she can be.
The effects are good, though.

Photos of Michael

We finally took the training
wheels off Michael's and Emily's
bikes. Here is Michael tooling
around the driveway.

Michael loves his suit
I bought for him. Here
he is after church lookin'
pretty sharp!

Professional Bull Riding

On February 17th we were in
Knoxville and decided to go to
Thompson Boling Arena and
watch Professional Bull
Riding. Quite an interesting
experience. I could only watch
until the rider started to lose
their seat then I would quickly
turn away. The kids on the other
hand just watched totally fascinated! This isn't my picture. I
copied it from the PBR website.
It is quite representative
of what we saw, though.
These are a couple of shots
taken before the event.

A Visit With The Easter Bunny

Last Saturday I took off
for the day and went to
Chattanooga. While
away....the kids did play!
They went to visit Mema
and Aunt Sherri at a craft
fair where they were
vendors and got a chance
to see the Easter Bunny!

North Carolina Skiing

On President's Day we drove
to North Carolina from Knoxville.
We were looking forward to
a couple of days of skiing
in the Appalachian Mountains.

Here is Emily working on
facing down the hill. You
want you lower body to
turn, but keep you shoulders
facing straight down the
hill. The pole helps her
not let her arm get behind
her and consequently turn
her upper body.

Same goes for Michael.
He needs a lot more
work on this.

Looking Good!

Cheese!

A Picture From Gatlinburg

We took this photo on
February, 18th. Definitely
shows I am slow on the
upload. Oh well. Guess
you can tell it was a
little cold.....Brrr.

Ripley's Aquarium

We went to Gatlinburg on
Sunday February 18th. We
decided to go to Ripley's
Aquarium. We'd never
been before, and we
thoroughly enjoyed it.In the kids area they had
two aquariums that the
kids could climb up into
the middle of. Here they
are posing for their
mom. At least in this
picture Michael doesn't
have a cheesy smile on.

Look at the big crab
with little itty bitty claws.

There was a huge aquarium
that had a moving walkway
winding its way through it.
We saw fish, sharks, crabs
and other marine life swim
on either side of us and over
the top of us too!! Pretty cool.

Quick family shot before
we left the aquarium.
