More Ski Pictures

Well I'm finally home after being
out of town for 17 days in March.

I intended on getting some more
ski pictures on the blog while in
Florida, but it just didn't happen.

Here they are.....

This picture was taken at
Sundance ski resort which
is owned by Robert Redford.

We absolutely love Sundance!
Emily had a great day skiing
and started getting a little
adventureous and was skiing
through the trees a bit!

Michael at Sundance. He
did great! I think he
figured out that speed is
fun. Just as long as his
stopping skills stay with him!

At the end our our first
day of skiing we stopped
for a quick picture. This
is the mountain at Alta
ski resort. It turned out
to be a beautiful afternoon
after being gray all day.

Two Hams!

Ski Pictures!!!

Just got back from a great
week of skiing in Utah.
Our weather was by far
the most challenging we have
ever had. One day we skied in
rain, sleet, ice pellets and snow.
Whew! Here are a couple
of shots Kenneth took with
his camera. Some of the 400+
pictures I took will post within
a couple of days.
The day of all weather
experience. We skied at
Sundance this day. It is
just a wonderful resort and
we skied it twice this year.
Emily is bundled up and
ready to go. She was so
pretty in her pink.
Definitely was easy to keep
her in sight on the slopes.

This is Saturday morning
at Snowbasin. We got to
go up a lift we'd never been
on before and this is what it
was like at the top!

This picture doesn't look
real to me but I can promise
you that it is!

"Whew! Had a hard day of
skiing and now I'm having
to wait for my family to quit
shopping." So sayeth Michael!

Emily at Gymnastics.....

The stages of a back-bend
kick-over... Getting ready....
Going back....look for the ground....
Whew! Bridge.....
Lead with your toe...not your knee...
Straighten those legs and
point those toes.
Stand up and take a bow!

Getting ready for a round-off.

To bad those hands aren't
straight up in the air...otherwise
I thought it was a great picture!

Cool Sunset

One of the perks of having your
camera in the car with you at
all times is you can pull over on
the side of the road and take
pictures like these.

I took these a few weeks ago.
They were more impressive
in person.

More Party Pictures!

While in Florida we got
some great pictures of the
kids and I thought I should
share them with you.

Getting a little of the
energy out before the
party. Poor Mimi's and
Grandaddy's bed. I am
sure it will never be the
same again!

All dressed up and
waiting to go party
with Granny and Chief!

Uncle Steve gave Michael
a dollar for all his hard
work at picture taking.
I got a kiss from Emily
for just being her Mommy.
I think I got the better
payment!

Peek-A-Boo! 2nd cousins
were having a great time
together.

90th Birthday Party/65th Anniversary Party

The Doerter Clan descended
on South Florida this weekend
for a combination birthday
anniversary party.
My Grandfather turns 90
today and last August
my grandparents celebrated
their 65th anniversary. WOW!
I plan to have pictures posted
tonight or in the morning.
It was a wonderful time and
I'm thrilled we were able to
go down to help celebrate.

Fantastic Horse and Rider

Even if you don't ride,
I can't imagine that you
won't appreciate the
time and effort this lady
took training her horse.

Having ridden a lot
in my younger years,
I think this is absolutely
amazing and I can't
imagine ever having the
guts to do this.

Check it out!

Great Email I received

WHY GOD MADE MOMS

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?

1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic; they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Dye it. You know her hair. I'd dye it, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Pony Club Quiz

Emily competed in an unmounted
knowledge based competition this
past weekend. There were over 20
pony clubs competing in Franklin
from all over the Mid-South Region.

Emily competed on a three
person team with two other
girls. One was 9 and the other
was 10. Their division consisted
of 44 pony clubbers ages 7-10
and their section had 5 teams.
Emily's team won their section and
placed 3rd out of the 11 teams. Not
bad for two first timers and one
veteran. Emily's teammates were
1st and 7th individually out of the 44
competitors and Emily tied for 12th.
I was so excited and so proud of her.
The competition consisted of a written
test, a team phase called Stations, a
Barn Phase and another called
Mega-Room. It is to difficult to explain
each area, but suffice it to say she had
to answer a wide variety of questions
as well as demonstrate a variety of
things. It was quite a success!

Emily, Jessica and Wynne
1st Place!!!!

Michael was a trooper. He had
to hang out with me all day and
he got very bored. That night
he enjoyed showing some
cool moves when the DJ got
the music going!

80's day at PGS

Two weeks ago Emily and
Michael's school had spirit week.
One day was pajama day,
one was PGS spirit day etc.

Tuesday was 80's day. Both
Emily and Michael wore Go-Go's
shirts. Michael's was actually
one of Kenneth's actual concert
t-shirts from the Vacation tour.

Kenneth did Michael's hair that
day. He was quite the hit. I think
it is pretty good Flock of
Seagulls. What do you think?

Great Prank!

Sorry to have been out of touch
for a few weeks. Back to blogging
and I've lots of pictures to share.

I got this link in an email this
morning and I think it is well
worth your time and effort to
watch it. I've watched it three
times and still giggle throughtout
the video.

Enjoy!

Emily's Purple Addition

I forgot to mention that lovely
addition to Emily's leg. A couple
of weeks before Christmas,
Emily was at recess and was
being chased by one of the
boys from her class from last
year. In her efforts to get away
from him, she fell and twisted
her ankle. After a brief sojorn
to the school nurse's office, she
resumed her school day schedule.
I was never called which is very
unlike the Nurse Vicky.
She'll call about anything.
At the end of the day,
out came a gimpy Emily. On the
way to Mom's house, she asked if
she could take her shoe off. I said
"no", because if it was swollen,
I was afraid we wouldn't get it back
on. Once there, I took a look at
it and her ankle was huge. A call
to the doctor's office had us making
a trip to the ER. Thankfully no
major injury and no damage to the
growth plate. They sent her home
in a walking boot and said to follow
up with an Orthopedist.
The Orthopedist said she had a
small fracture of her ankle bone.
It wasn't that bad an injury,
but his fear was what might
happen if a secondary injury should
occur. He mentioned surgery,
possible pins and I immediately
was on board for a cast.
Emily has been purple cast free for
2 weeks and has been sporting an
air cast since then. Today is her last
day in the air cast. YEAH.
I was not sorry to see the cast go.
I was especially not sorry to not
smell the cast anymore. P U!

Christmas Day

Can you see the look of
excitement on Michael's
face? They were both
very ready to come out
and see if Santa had come.

Michael showing off
his new footie pjs.

They glow in the dark...
cool!

Mom....a sweater????
Emily thought Santa did
good with the doll. It was
something she had really
wanted and asked for.

Banner is pooped out from
all the activity.

Ready to cook....a
great gift from Gammy.
